E-bikes are great alternatives to traditional bicycles. Many people even prefer these bikes to cars. They can move at very high speeds, and cyclists don’t have to struggle a lot to accelerate; the bicycle can speed up with minimal effort. The Jetson Adventure was a very pleasant surprise because we really didn’t know what to expect. Instead, we found a light and fun mountain bike and had no problem flinging into corners with ease. The one caveat is that its battery is not removable, at least, not easily. It can be removed from the front light but would take some time to do so. It sports 21 gears, and although we would like to go faster, it is meant to climb hills. Overall, it’s a fun bike to ride, and one that is lightweight at a fair price. In response to customer questions about the display, we posted a video detailing the basic setup of the LCD during installation of the kit. You will need to adjust the settings for the motor type, wheel size, and battery voltage in order to match your specific kit.  Detailed instructions are available in the E-BikeKit manual, E-TrikeKit manual and LCD Quickstart Guide Before a return is sent, the customer must have a return authorization number provided by PIM Bicycles. If a customer sends a return without the authorization of PIM a refund will not be issued....

On our trip we experienced beautiful country roads going through and around small medieval Spanish villages. The e-bike was terrific. I felt somewhat guilty enjoying the slight uphills which were a breeze. It’s possible to break a sweat or not on this trip with an e-bike. Electric bikes (or Pedelecs) have been on the cycling scene for a few years already, however these have evolved from a necessity, which was primarily used for riders with health or fitness issues, into the new breed of serious off road bikes. All of our bikes are the pedal assist (not the throttle type) so some effort is required, the amount is up to you. Whether you’re looking to commute without getting too sweaty, to hitting the downhills with the power of an inbuilt uplift, there is a bike to suit your needs. Why own an e-bike? By 2007 e-bikes were thought to make up 10 to 20 percent of all two-wheeled vehicles on the streets of many major Chinese cities.[10] A typical unit requires 8 hours to charge the battery, which provides the range of 25 to 30 miles (40 to 48 km),[10] at the speed of around 20 km/h.[11] Electric bikes, bicycles propelled by a motor and battery, are not new. In fact the very first e-bike was documented in the 1890’s! Since conception, electric bikes have come a long way. And in...

Generally designed for one person and small cargo capacity, electric bike range, speed, and cost are moderate. For most of us, the majority of our trips are less than 20 miles – within the range of most e-bikes considering the latest advances in affordable lithium batteries. Clean, quiet, and efficient LEVs offer the advantages of an extra car without the burdens. China has experienced an explosive growth of sales of non-assisted e-bikes including scooter type, with annual sales jumping from 56,000 units in...

We Can Build It.   Built by hand in Pennsylvania, mostly by Harry and Alec. Custom Wheelbuilding Some people don’t know that we build every one of our wheels here by hand in Pennsylvania. This lets us control each step of the process, ensuring that the spokes are uniform, straight, and undamaged, allowing us to apply spoke-prep to the spokes, oil to the nipple seats, and inspect the rims before… The basics of an electric bicycle are simple. The electric motor propels it, a battery supplies the power, and a throttle provides speed control – although not all electric bikes have a throttle. The difference lies in how these components are arranged and what assistance they give. A highly polished, purpose-built electric bicycle with easy-to-mount frame, adjustable bars and ergonomic touch points, available in five colors, additional $99 shipping with assembly by Velofix. The large solar panel mounted over the back wheel of this experimental bike powers an electric motor connected by a chain drive to the back wheel, helping the rider when he doesn’t feel like pedaling. Using clean, green solar power would remove the problem of having to charge electric bikes with electricity generated from fossil fuels—and help to extend their range...

Two years ago, CEO Chris Cocalis of Pivot Cycles — which sells high-end mountain bikes — found that U.S. bike shops weren’t interested in stocking ebikes. Some retailers warned Cocalis that they’d drop the brand if it came out with an electric bike. Some traditionalists had feared excess wear on trails, but research has since shown that not to be the case. Some assembly of your new electric bike may be required. Often, this merely attaching the front wheel, but assembly chores are sometimes more complex than that. Several manufacturers provide instructional videos to help owners with the task of e-bike assembly. The environmental effects involved in recharging the batteries can of course be reduced. The small size of the battery pack on an e-bike, relative to the larger pack used in an electric car, makes them very good candidates for charging via solar power or other renewable energy resources. Sanyo capitalized on this benefit when it set up “solar parking lots,” in which e-bike riders can charge their vehicles while parked under photovoltaic panels.[63] While the electric assist will ensure that you get up that hill, an E-bike does not make up for the need to be a practiced and comfortable rider. Operators of E-bikes must be capable of and comfortable with all of the usual aspects of bike operation including mounting/dismounting, starting/stopping, pedaling, shifting gears, balancing and...
