Size: Some electric bikes look a little small, but if you’re going to drive to the edge of the city and ride the last couple of miles, a light, folding model that you can easily throw in the trunk has definite advantages.
We are regular riders and chose to ride e-bikes and felt it was the best decision we could have made. Because of the size of the group there were extra e-bikes available and three others in the group switched after day one. The e-bike made the uphills no more challenging than our rides back in New England. The long switchback filled downhills were a total delight as the BionX system allows you to shift into negative power and like a car in first gear, holds you back with minimal braking. The Propella E-Bike is an e-bike we haven’t written much about yet but are currently testing it for CleanTechnica. This is one very sweet e-bike. What makes it really stand out is that it doesn’t feel like an e-bike. Most e-bikes feel like electric bicycles. The Propella feels like a normal bicycle that just happens to have an electric motor. It’s not in your face and it’s a very sleek and light bike. Stay tuned for more on that bike. Oh, and the price? $1,200. Not bad for an entry-level e-bike that will make you feel you are riding on a well designed, well-executed bicycle.
